Brexit causing you problems? Why not look at relocating your company?

Writer: MichaelaMichaela

As the clock struck 12 on the dawn of Friday 1st January 2021, the UK had truly left the European Union. D-Day. Businesses within the UK had been asked to ensure they had prepared well in advance for this, yet nobody knew what to prepare for. With the agreement signed at the 11th hour, and not provided to the public until days before the due date to leave, it's safe to say there has been a hefty amount of panic and confusion caused.

Alas, we are now at day 9 of the post-Brexit world, yet businesses are still finding out the trade agreement signed doesn't cover half of the issues it was originally believed it would, and many companies are now falling foul of the myriad customs issues which have sprung up from this.

Huge retailers such as M&S and John Ross are feeling the heat, unable to export produce out of the country. Hauliers have refused to deliver items from the UK to mainland Europe because of customs issues, huge tailbacks, or refusals to enter the EU due to confusion on reporting produce.

It sounds like the start of an apocalypse movie, but i'm afraid this is all true, and just a taste of things to come no doubt.

So, what can be done to remedy this?

Well, depending on the service your company offers depends on what can be done to help.

If you offer services such as banking, accounting, to other financial services (financial or investment advice, management etc), all the way to architecture or graphic design, you will be feeling the sting of Brexit for the loss of access to the EU Central Market. This may have formed a large part of your business revenue, so you may now be frantically looking at what can be done to continue providing your services within the Bloc.

Or, you may have been looking to expand into the EU in future, with no revenue yet sourced from there. Either way, if services are what you provide, there is really only one viable option: Relocate!

Now this doesn't have to be a full relocation, it can be a partial move. One service we have seen huge uptake for is to open a simple 'satellite' office. Or depending on how much of your revenue was dependent upon the EU, you may opt for a full relocation. Each can have it's benefits, but these would purely depend on what you need to achieve.

Why would you relocate to the EU?

Well, as mentioned above, this gives you access again to the biggest trading market in the world. All 27 Member-States, with free access and movement of services between each one. Not to mention, a whole raft of existing Trade Agreements with 37 other countries outside of the Bloc itself.

Alongside this, we can also offer cheaper prices for company services than what is to be found within the UK. Thanks to the incentives such as Government Grants, Loan Schemes and others on offer within the countries we operate from, we can combine this with significantly cheaper costs in regards to labor, rent and legal expenses. This means both more savings for your company, and higher earnings revenue!
